Active Hot Dogs & Hessians Finale

June 28, 2008 | Posted by Ddubs
Active's Hot Dogs & Hessians Skate Park Tour events are truely a memorable time for the kids.  Active reaches far and wide to hit numerous skate parks and throw a skate bash that any hessian would be psyched to attend!  With product, chili dogs, and a live metal performance from Neurotoxin, what else could you want in a skate session?

We showed up to the Fontana skate park to find that the police wouldn't let anyone skate without helmets.  Tons of kids were skating the parking lot instead of being yelled and even ticketed by the local cops.

As the event seemed to be out of luck, Active Mailorder came to the rescue with a dozen helmets for the kids.  The best trick contest was on!  Not everyone was able to skate, but everyone did their part in creating a great contest and overall event.

Active's metal  man on the megaphone, Corey Cady!

Chany Jeanguenin had front row seats of the best trick contest on the handrail.

Greg Green won the best trick contest with multiple tricks including a kickflip crooks down the rail.

The big bowl in the back was the perfect site for the Metal band, Neurotoxin to set the mood for the bowl jam.

After the bowl sesh, kids piled in for product toss mayhem.

Chany tossing A# shirts into the crowd.

Even though the cops made it tought to go forward with the event, the final Active Hot Dogs & Hessians stop was a great one.  Everyone that attended had a good time and left with something.  If you missed this one, be sure to mark your calendars for the next Active event.  Thanks to everyone at Active for making this such a great event for the kids!

Alphanumeric Binoculars Resurface

June 26, 2008 | Posted by Ddubs
A customer from UNIV Encinitas brought these by the store today to show the Alphanumeric crew these binoculars.  These were made in 1999 and handed out from the A# booth at the tradeshow .  We have seen a lot of people with original Alpha products roll through since the relaunch, but these might be the most rare of them all...

If you think you have a piece of A# memorabilia that can compeat with these, post a photo on our Myspace or Facebook page.  Whoever comes out on top will win an A# prize...

Lil' Wayne at Hanger 94

June 25, 2008 | Posted by Ddubs
Lil' Wayne stopped his tour bus outside the La Mesa Hanger 94 as soon as he heard they carry Alphanumeric!  Justin from Hanger schooled him on the message behind the "Open  Mind" A# t-shirt.  Needless to say, the crew at Hanger 94 was singing "Go DJ" the rest of the day...  Thanks for the pic Justin!

Check out Lil Wayne's new album, "The Carter III"...

Steve Sherman Photographer Extraordinaire

June 25, 2008 | Posted by Ddubs
Today we had a pleasent surprise.  Legendary skate / surf photographer, Steve Sherman stopped by the Alpha office to pay a visit.  Beginning his carrear working with Grant Brittain, there's no wonder he has become so successful...  Moving his way from a staff photographer at Transworld Skateboarding to the photo editor at Transworld Surf, Mr. Sherman has made his mark in the world of photography.

The last time Steve and Mirko crossed paths was over a year ago.  Aly and Steve last shared time together when they made this amazing photo take place.
Aly claims 1990 and Steve protests 1989...  No matter the year, great photo, great style, on both their parts!

Go Skateboarding Day 2008!

June 23, 2008 | Posted by Ddubs
The Overload Go Skateboarding Day at the Chula Vista Skate Park was a HOT one!  Other than being 100 degrees out, there were hundreds of kids skating around the park throughout the day.  The heat didn't stop anyone from getting out and skating the two arce facility from noon to six.  Have a look at the photos and see what went down!

Skate hungry kids watching the action.

George Carlin, We Salute You

June 23, 2008 | Posted by Ddubs
Timeless comedien, George Carlin passed away on the 22nd of June from heart failure.  His political, raw, and to some, offensive views of society entertained people for more than four decades.  There is no doubt that his humor will continue to reach out and grab peoples' attention for many decades to come.

Skate Book Volume 2 Hard as Nails!

June 19, 2008 | Posted by Ddubs

The Alphanumeric office was blessed with a visit from Salman Agah, Publisher of the Skate Book and skateboard legend.  Other than being fans of Salman, we were psyched to see the new volume.  The Skate Book is one serious piece of skateboard media.  We were honored to have it hand delivered to us by the man himself!  The Paul Sharpe issue is filled with some truly legendary content.  Aside from straight nollies over barriers, Mr. Sharpe can put together a collection of skate editorial with the best of em'.  It is no secret that Publishers, Michael Ballard and Salman Agah have created the perfect Skate Book.

Danny worked at a Vans store when he was a kid, and use to sell Salman's pro shoe.  He also took a pair as a "parting gift" from the store when he stopped working there.  Needless to say, Danny was hyped to get the Skate Book hand delivered from Salman.

Alphanumeric got some love in the new issue of Complex.   If you haven't gone out and picked up this issue, I strongly urge you to do so.  It's filled with some great content including the "Riot" T-shirt, that made the Brand Shout.  A big thanks to Rob from Complex for stopping by the Alphanumeric office.
